The Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) released its 2015 national-event schedule Oct. 1, featuring 10 races, with five new tracks on the tour following its 2014 inaugural season. The PDRA plans to continue its Friday/Saturday event format.
The PDRA’s sophomore tour will begin Mar. 20-21, at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX, followed by a return Apr. 10-12, to North Carolina’s Rockingham Dragway, home to some of the most memorable moments in professional eighth mile racing. Next, the PDRA will head west May 1-2, to Thunder Road Raceway in Shreveport, LA. The final weekend in May (29-30), will see a stop at Gateway Raceway in St. Louis, MO, and the 2015 tour will complete its first half June 26-27, at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI.
On July 17-18, the PDRA will bring its unique brand of eighth-mile action to Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, MD, followed by a stop Aug. 21-21, at Memphis International Raceway in Millington, TN. The recently reconstructed GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, NC, will then host one of the traditional highlights of the tour, Dragstock, on Sept. 11-13, before the PDRA returns Oct. 2-3, to Tulsa Raceway Park. The 2015 PDRA season will then wrap up Oct. 23-24, at Virginia Motorsports Park, near Richmond, VA.
“We worked hard to produce a schedule that would benefit our teams, sponsors and fans, as well as each of the tracks we will visit,” PDRA Race Director Bob Harris said. “We look forward to visiting new tracks and welcome back many of the places we visited this year. I believe this schedule is just what we need to continue moving forward as the world’s premier eighth-mile drag racing organization.”
Also in the works, a new points structure will be unveiled later this year.
The PDRA will conclude its inaugural 2014 season Oct. 9-11, at Virginia Motorsports Park, along with the completion of Dragstock XI, which was rained out early last month at Rockingham.
